KUWAIT CITY, May 21: According to governmental sources, ministries and government agencies are still in the process of receiving requests from their employees to sell their leave days, in preparation for their inventory, so that they can know the value of the financial item before addressing the Ministry of Finance to settle the amounts that will be disbursed in exchange for leave days for employees who apply to sell them. So far, no money has been disbursed in this regard, reports Al-Rai daily.

They explained that the Civil Service Commission (CSC) had previously asked the Ministry of Finance to implement decree No. 81/2022 and Civil Service Council’s decision No. 2/2022 for disbursing the cash allowance for the balance of the leaves of employees during their service in the fiscal year at the expense of the amounts under settlement, provided that the amounts disbursed during the fiscal year are settled during the last quarter of the fiscal year, from the savings achieved in the budget of each entity separately.

According to informed sources from the Ministry of Public Works, the Personnel Department has received 5,000 requests from employees in different sectors to sell their leave days, since the opening of applications in this regard. The employees who applied recently to sell their leave days have exceeded 1,000.

The average number of leave days that employees requested ranged between 100 and 150 days. Sources from the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said, “There are 6,000 employees who have submitted requests to sell their leave days so far”. They indicated that the concerned departments have started examining the requests to ensure that they comply with the terms of exchange, in preparation for listing the requests that meet the conditions and addressing the Ministry of Finance with the total amounts.
