Reports of brawl in Central Prison denied

KUWAIT CITY, April 27: Officials from Ministry of Interior’s General Department for Jail and Sentences Enforcement denied reports of a quarrel between two Central Prison inmates who are involved in a “terrorist cell” case, says Al-Seyassah.

They insisted that such reports are false, as the two inmates reside in two separate buildings, affirming that the ministry is taking steps to determine the source of such false rumors and take necessary legal action.

Meanwhile, a security source revealed that the General Department for Jail and Sentences Enforcement has started releasing some inmates who are serving short sentences for misdemeanor cases, indicating that such a decision was taken due to the current coronavirus crisis. He stressed that the department has taken all necessary preventive health measures to protect the lives of inmate, and temporarily banned visits.
