KUWAIT CITY, Sept 28: Head of the Child Center at the Kuwait Lawyers Society Hawra Al-Habib says any teacher who witnesses violence between students and turns a blind eye is actually breaking the law.
She highlighted that Article 10 of the Domestic Violence Law and Article 27 of the Child Protection Law mandate reporting cases of violence against students, whether it occurs at school or within the family. Al-Habib called on the Ministry of Education to enforce these laws through social service offices in schools, which must report any discovered cases of domestic or external violence instead of covering them up.
She warned that anyone aware of a child being subjected to violence and who does not report it is liable to punishment. Al-Habib also noted that cases of violence are rising in the courts but expressed hope that new laws and stricter penalties will help reduce them in the near future.
