Rehire retirees, orders minister

KUWAIT CITY, May 22: First Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and acting Minister of Defense Sheikh Talal Khalid Al- Ahmad Al-Sabah recently issued a decision to rehire 598 retired Ministry of Interior employees as non-commissioned officers and civilian workers starting Sunday, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a press statement, the Interior Ministry explained this step aims to strengthen the police force through the appointment of retirees with vast experience in the field; while giving them another chance to serve their homeland. Minister of Social Affairs, Women and Childhood Affairs Mai Al-Baghli recently issued a decision obligating cooperative societies to allot 50 percent of their zakat – after the approval of the General Assembly – for citizens who can no longer afford to pay their debts, reports Al-Rai daily.
