KUWAIT CITY, July 1: The Minister of Health issued a decision to close two physiotherapy and rehabilitation centers and a clinic, referring them to the Medical Liability Authority due to violations identified by the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Inspection Committee, reports Al-Seyassah daily. These violations included operating health facilities without a licensed physician or nursing staff, and falsely claiming that employees were on leave or had resigned without providing supporting documentation. The committee also found that patients were being admitted and treated without the required medical referrals, in violation of regulations governing the practice of physiotherapy and rehabilitation.

Additional violations included medical files lacking patient data or a physician’s stamp. It was also found that nursing staff were practicing with licenses that had expired in February 2025. In other news, Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi on Wednesday inaugurated a week-long public awareness campaign marking World Paramedics Day, observed annually on July 8, at The Avenues Mall. During a tour of the exhibition, Al-Awadhi visited the training, ambulance and communications sections and thanked operations center personnel for their dedication in serving the country.

Director of the Medical Emergency Department Dr. Fahad Al-Qemlas said the campaign will continue at Al-Khiran Mall and 360 Mall to promote first aid awareness and strengthen community engagement. He added that the campaign includes hands-only first aid training sessions to teach the public how to provide initial assistance until ambulance teams arrive. Al-Qamlas also noted that the event marks the first anniversary of the First Responder Service, which has strengthened emergency response during routine operations and crises. Ambulance Supervisor Abdullah Al-Nafis said Kuwait operates nearly 79 ambulance centers across all governorates through 13 emergency complexes. He added that the First Responder Service has enabled treatment of around 15 to 20 percent of emergency cases at the scene before ambulance crews arrive, while air ambulance services handle around 900 cases annually in remote areas
