KUWAIT CITY, Oct 12: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs’ Technical Affairs Department announced the start of the registration process for applicants of the written test for the positions of Imam and muezzin (Kuwaitis only) starting from Sunday until Thursday, November 16, or until the required number is met, reports Al-Seyassah daily.
Director of the Technical Affairs Department Dr. Bader Aba Dhiraa affirmed the keenness of the ministry to select qualified and distinguished people who have memorized Quran, have a “pure” voice, and have knowledge of Sharia sciences, in accordance with the controls set by the Committee for Testing and Selection of Religious Job Holders in the ministry, in order to work in these important jobs that serve society.
Dr. Aba Dhiraa explained that the ministry is keen to attract national cadres to work in mosques after they apply for religious positions and pass the prescribed tests. The date of the written test will be November 19, and the following conditions apply: It is necessary to obtain a Sharia university qualification or above and memorize five parts of the Quran, including Juz’ Amma (30th part), or obtain a non-Shari’a university qualification and memorize ten parts of the Qur’an, including Juz’ Amma, or obtain a high school diploma from the Religious Institute qualifications and memorize the entire Quran, in addition to mastering the rules of recitation. The applicant must be at least 21 years old and must pass the written test and oral interview.
