KUWAIT CITY, Nov 28: The Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka Kuwait Chapter successfully concluded its Annual Cricket Tournament recently at Mishref Ground. The one-day event featured limited-over matches, with each inning comprising 8 overs. The tournament witnessed the participation of four teams, namely Green Gators led by Milhan Wahideen, Yellow Eagles by Thariq Ahamed, Red Dragons captained by Sanuja Karunarathna, and Blue Raptors led by Samantha Weerasekara.

In the final, the Red Dragons emerged victorious over the Green Gators, with Sanuja's explosive batting earning him the title of the best batsman in the tournament. Sanuja, who opened the innings, played a pivotal role in leading the team to victory. The best bowler title was awarded to Firoz Ahmed Shafi Ul Farook of the Yellow Eagles, who secured four wickets throughout the tournament. Mohamed Rilwan Shahul Hameed, a member of the Green Gators who emerged as the runners-up, was honored as the man of the tournament for his consistent and impressive performances in batting, bowling, and fielding. The Yellow Eagles secured the 2nd runners-up position in the battle against the Blue Raptors.

The final award ceremony was graced by His Excellency the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Kuwait, Kandeepan Balasubramaniam, Minister / Head of Chancery of Sri Lankan Embassy in Kuwait Mr. Abdul Haleem, Third Secretary Mr. Bandara Disanayaka, Acting Head of Labour Section Mr. Manjula Batagoda and Attache Mr. Lakmal Weerasuriya.

The tournament was umpired by Mr. Arshad Hussain Marikkar with the support of leg umpire Mr. Chinthaka Deshappriya Rathnayaka while the scoreboard was monitored and moderated by member Asoka Rupasighe along with the assistance of Sachini Ariyawickrama, Neluja Fernando and Isuru Dayarathne.

The President expressed gratitude, stating, "This year's tournament was graced by wonderful weather in Kuwait, and nearly all members, including their families, actively participated in the event. I extend my thanks to His Excellency and his staff for their presence, and also express appreciation to the organizing committee, with special acknowledgment to the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, Isuru Dayarathne." The success of the event can be attributed to the dedicated efforts of the Executive Committee of CA Sri Lanka Kuwait Chapter, comprising President Dimuthu Ethugala, Vice President Riyaz Jamaldeen, General Secretary Sachini Ariyawickrama, Treasurer Mohamed Murshid, Assistant Secretary Tharindu Rajapaksha, Assistant Treasurer Isuru Dayarathne, and Committee members Mohammed Baseer, Pasindu Karunathilaka, Neluja Fernando, and Chathura Jayasanka. CA Sri Lanka Kuwait Chapter is an affiliated extension of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka through the patronage of the Sri Lanka Embassy in Kuwait and the Chapter has 70 members working in Kuwait.
