Recalled LABUBU Dolls in Kuwait Are Fake, Warns Pop Mart

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 4: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has announced the recall of the LABUBU toy, product code TOY3378, following the discovery of a manufacturing defect that poses a potential suffocation hazard to children.

According to the Ministry’s statement, certain parts of the toy can detach easily, creating a choking risk for young users. The public is urged to immediately stop using the product and return it to the market for a full refund.

Consumers who purchased the toy are advised to contact Hussein Abdullah Dashti Establishment at 96000017 or 56539540 to arrange the return and reimbursement process.

The recall is being carried out in accordance with Articles 42–48 of Law No. 27/2015 and Law No. 39/2014 on Consumer Protection, aimed at ensuring the safety of products available in the Kuwaiti market.

However, Pop Mart has said that TOY3378 has been identified as a counterfeit item and is not the legitimate Labubu dolls. The distributor emphasised that it has not manufactured nor authorised the sale of the recalled products, and that the two are "entirely unrelated".

The company issued a statement stating, "Pop Mart firmly opposes IP infringement, counterfeiting, or any misuse of brand names. We will take necessary legal measures to protect our IP rights and consumer interests if required," It reiterated that its Labubu products undergo "rigorous safety testing" and comply with international safety standards.

In response to dangerous counterfeit dolls circulating in the market, Pop Mart has contacted the Kuwait authorities to confirm that these products are fake.

The company has also urged customers worldwide, including in Kuwait, to buy Labubus exclusively through official channels. These include Pop Mart’s official flagship stores, certified online platforms, and authorized physical retailers.

Authentic Labubu toys are part of "The Monsters" series created by artist Kasing Lung, and they are sold by the Chinese toy company Pop Mart. Authentic Labubu toys are collectible items and have gained widespread popularity.
