Customs officers at the Salmi border post have confiscated large quantities of subsidized foodstuff distributed to Kuwait by means of ration cards, reports Al-Anba daily.
The daily quoting customs sources said the foodstuff was destined for an Arab country loaded in a truck hidden in the midst of other goods. Advanced detection devices showed the existence of large quantities of subsidized foodstuffs such as milk powder, oils and others.
The truck has been referred to the land customs department and legal action has been initiated against the suspects. It looks like some expatriates have resumed their activity of smuggling out of the country subsidized food items.
