On the other hand, Issa Dashti, Secretary of the society and a researcher on Kuwaiti-British relations, affirmed that the history of Kuwaiti postal services is rich with milestones and documents, reflecting the history and international relations of the country. He said the Kuwaiti stamps are an important historical record for the country, indicating that the set was issued in 1948 to commemorate the 25th wedding anniversary of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, during which the British Royal Mail issued two commemorative stamps for the occasion. He added that the stamps were reprinted later with the name of Kuwait and its currency at the time -- the rupee -- for use in the Kuwaiti postal service during the British postal administration period.
