DOHA, June 20: A specialized team from Qatar’s Ministry of Environment and Climate Change conducted a field visit to the whale shark aggregation site in the northeastern waters of the country to assess monitoring efforts and ensure the protection of the species’ natural habitat.
During the visit, the team reviewed ongoing observation and follow-up activities at the site, including monitoring methods and conservation measures implemented to safeguard whale sharks during the aggregation season.
The field tour also included a review of recorded data and observations collected throughout the season, along with scientific efforts aimed at studying whale sharks and tracking their presence in Qatari waters.
The ministry said the visit reflects continued efforts to monitor marine ecosystems, protect biodiversity and support scientific research on one of the world’s largest marine species.
