These proposals and questions were discussed by the Reform and Development Committee, culminating in the resolution issued by the council and ratified by the minister of state for Municipal and Housing Affairs. Al-Enezi revealed that the resolution mandates coordination among the Kuwait Municipality, Ministry of Public Works and Ministry of Finance to re-evaluate the designated sites and determine the government entity responsible for their management and operation as integrated regulatory and investment facilities. He explained that the objectives of this move include benefiting from government land, providing sustainable financial resources for the state, and eliminating haphazard parking. He added that addressing the issue requires the concerted efforts of relevant government agencies to reorganize truck, bus and heavy equipment assembly sites.
He emphasized that the project will reduce visual pollution, enhance traffic safety, protect infrastructure, and provide integrated logistics services and sustainable economic returns. He pointed out that the success of the project hinges on obligating companies and institutions that own trucks and heavy equipment to use the designated sites and prohibiting parking such vehicles in residential, investment and commercial areas to instill discipline and organize the areas. He stressed that the time has come to move from addressing the problem to investing in the solution by transforming truck assembly sites into organized facilities with economic returns, support urban environmental improvement, and improve the quality of life.
