KUWAIT CITY, Feb 16: The Ministry of Education has approved the official working and school hours for the holy month of Ramadan, covering students, teachers and administrative staff in government schools and private schools. An official circular detailing the timings is expected to be issued shortly.
Under the approved plan, the school day for all grades will consist of seven class periods, each lasting between 30 and 35 minutes, with two breaks of 15 minutes each.
Student Timings
Kindergarten students between 9:40 and 10:00 am, with dismissal scheduled from 12:55 to 1:10 pm.
Primary schools will operate from 9:25 am until 1:45 pm.
Intermediate schools will begin at 9:20 am, with the last period ending at 2:00 pm.
Secondary schools will start at 9:30 am and conclude at 2:10 pm.
School Staff Hours
A flexible 30-minute attendance window will apply to employees at all educational levels.
Kindergarten staff will report between 8:30 and 9:00 am and leave between 1:00 and 1:30 pm.
Primary and intermediate school staff will begin between 9:00 and 9:30 am and finish between 1:30 and 2:00 pm.
Secondary school employees will report between 9:10 and 9:40 am and leave between 1:40 and 2:10 pm.
Technical supervisors in educational districts will also follow flexible hours, starting between 9:00 and 9:30 am and ending between 1:30 and 2:00 pm.
Ministry and District Offices
Employees at the ministry’s general office and educational districts will follow a flexible 4.5-hour work system during Ramadan. Morning shifts will allow arrival between 8:30 and 10:30 am, with staff required to complete four and a half hours from their time of arrival while adhering to fingerprint attendance procedures. Evening shifts will begin at 6:45 pm and continue for four and a half hours.
The ministry has canceled all reduced working hours and partial absence arrangements during Ramadan, except for cases approved by the Public Authority for Disability Affairs. The total permissible lateness throughout the holy month has been set at 67 minutes.
