RIYADH, Feb 15: The Moon sighting committee of Saudi Arabia has urged all Muslims across the Kingdom to look for the crescent moon marking the start of Ramadan on the evening of Tuesday, August 29, 1447 AH (February 17, 2026), according to the Umm al-Qura calendar.

The authorities instructed anyone who sights the crescent, whether with the naked eye or using binoculars, to report their observation to the nearest court and register their testimony, or to contact the designated center for guidance in reaching the court.

Authorities emphasized the importance of community participation in local committees formed for the moon sighting, highlighting that such involvement is considered a meritorious act of cooperation in righteousness and piety, benefiting the wider Muslim community.

The Moon sighting committee noted that the coordinated observation is aimed at ensuring a unified start of Ramadan for all Muslims in the Kingdom, in line with Islamic law.
