KUWAIT CITY, Jan 1: Officers from the General Department for Weapons Investigations Thursday launched a campaign in Omariya, in coordination with the General Traffic Department and other security bodies, and mounted security checkpoints at the vantage points, as part of plan to collect unlicensed weapons. The sector urges the public to report any information regarding unlicensed weapons for the safety of people.

Drugs in jail: Based on the efforts of the correctional institutions, the Prisons Security Department recovered narcotics from a water closet for the inmates. Investigation is underway to trace the perpetrators and necessary legal measures will be implemented against them, says Interior Ministry press statement.

Reminder issued: As previously announced by the General Traffic Department (GTD), the public is again reminded of the closure of Jassem Mohammad Al-Kharafi Road (Sixth Ring Road) for two weeks since Dec 26, 2015. Until Jan 9, 2016, the road will be closed from 1:00 am to 5:30 am. In a statement, GTD explained the road has been closed to complete the installation of part of the new bridge but there are alternative side roads in both lanes– one heading toward Jahra and the other towards Messilah. The Public Relations and Security Media Department advises those using the Sixth Ring Road and the roads to East Ardhiya to be careful and abide by regulations on speed limits and traffic warning signs while using the detours on both sides for their own safety.
