KUWAIT CITY, Nov 2: The 2025-2026 Basketball League playoffs begin on Tuesday, with Kuwait Club facing Qurain at 7 pm at the Basketball Association Hall in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex. Earlier, Kazma and Qadsia will meet at 5 pm in the opening game of the third-place playoff.
Both the championship and third-place series will be decided over a best-of-three format, with the first team to win two games claiming the respective position.
The spotlight will be on the Kuwait Club-Qurain final, which brings together the ambitions of an emerging contender and the experience of the defending champion, who is seeking to extend its recent dominance of the competition.
Qurain will contest the first league final in the club's history since its establishment in 2011. Under national coach Yahya Kulaib and with American professional Robinson Love, the team has enjoyed an impressive campaign, highlighted by eliminating Qadsia in the semifinals with back-to-back victories.
Its historic progress to the final reflects the club's focus on youth development, which has produced a promising group of young players who have combined effectively with the professional imports. The improvement has enabled Qurain to compete with the league's established teams.
Kuwait Club, meanwhile, will be looking to defend its crown. The defending champion will draw on its players' experience and technical quality, as well as the momentum gained from its recent West Asia Super League campaign, where it reached the semifinals before losing to Lebanon's Sagesse.
