Qatari Citizen Killed by Shrapnel Injuries Linked to Regional Military Operations

DOHA, Jun 28: A Qatari citizen was killed and an Arab resident was injured after a vessel carrying two people was located during a maritime search and rescue operation by Qatar’s Ministry of Interior.

The Ministry said the incident came to light during routine inspection and monitoring operations conducted by the General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security, which detected that the vessel had failed to return at its scheduled time.

Maritime patrols immediately launched search operations on the evening of Saturday, June 27, 2026. In the early hours of Sunday, June 28, the maritime search and rescue team located the vessel.

The ministry said the Qatari citizen died from injuries caused by shrapnel resulting from military operations in the region. An Arab resident who was on board sustained injuries and was transferred for medical treatment, with his condition reported as stable.

The Ministry of Interior expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the injured person.

Authorities said procedures and investigations into the incident are continuing in accordance with legal protocols.
