Qatar Uncovers Iranian-Backed Spy Network, Ten Arrested

DOHA, Mar 4: The Qatar News Agency (QNA) announced that authorities have dismantled two cells allegedly operating on behalf of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps within the country.

In a statement, QNA said the arrests were part of ongoing efforts to safeguard Qatar’s security and stability. Specialized monitoring and surveillance operations led to the detention of ten suspects.

According to the agency, seven of the detainees were assigned to carry out espionage missions, including gathering intelligence on vital and military installations across the country. The remaining three were allegedly tasked with executing acts of sabotage and had received training in the use of drones.

Authorities said the suspects were found in possession of locations and coordinates of sensitive facilities, as well as communication devices and other technological equipment.

During questioning, the suspects reportedly confessed to their affiliation with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and acknowledged that they had been assigned espionage and sabotage missions.

The State Security Service called on citizens and residents to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.
