Qatar Says Drone Targets Cargo Vessel Near Mesaieed Port

DOHA, May 10: Qatar’s Ministry of Defense said on Sunday that a commercial cargo vessel in its territorial waters northeast of Mesaieed Port was targeted by a drone, resulting in a limited fire.

The ministry said the incident occurred on Sunday morning and involved a vessel that had departed from Abu Dhabi. The fire was brought under control, and no injuries were reported.

According to the statement, the ship was able to continue its course toward Mesaieed Port after the situation was stabilized.

Authorities added that necessary measures were taken in coordination with relevant agencies to manage the incident and ensure maritime safety in Qatari waters.
