DOHA, June 30: Qatar's Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday that $6 billion in frozen Iranian funds have not yet been transferred to Iran and remain subject to a 2023 agreement for humanitarian purposes.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson said the funds were still designated for humanitarian purchases and had not been released to Tehran.
The spokesperson added that U.S. envoys Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff were in Doha for talks with Qatari mediators regarding U.S.-Iran negotiations, but would not hold direct meetings with Iranian officials at this stage.
Qatar is also coordinating with Oman on arrangements related to the Strait of Hormuz and ensuring safe passage for vessels, the spokesperson said.
