DOHA, Apr 13: Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, received a phone call from Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of Iran, to discuss recent regional developments.
During the call, both sides stressed the importance of maintaining the ceasefire between Iran and the United States as a step toward enhancing regional stability.
Sheikh Mohammed underscored the need for all parties to engage constructively with ongoing mediation efforts, calling for dialogue and peaceful solutions to address the root causes of the crisis and reach a sustainable agreement that prevents renewed escalation.
He also highlighted the importance of keeping maritime routes open and ensuring freedom of navigation, warning against using them as leverage in negotiations.
The Qatari premier cautioned that any disruption to key shipping lanes could have serious repercussions for countries in the region, as well as for global energy and food supplies, with broader implications for international peace and security.
