DOHA, July 8: Qatar has strongly condemned what it described as Iran's repeated attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait, calling them a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of both Gulf states and a serious breach of international law.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the State of Qatar "strongly condemns the repeated Iranian attacks on the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain and the sisterly State of Kuwait" and considers them "a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the two countries and a blatant breach of the rules of international law."

The ministry stressed the need to shield the region from the consequences of what it described as "unjustified attacks," urging all parties to continue pursuing dialogue, diplomacy and de-escalation.

Qatar also called for building on the gains achieved under the memorandum of understanding aimed at easing tensions, saying continued diplomatic efforts would help strengthen security and stability across the region and internationally.

Reaffirming its support for its Gulf neighbors, the ministry renewed Qatar's "full solidarity" with Bahrain and Kuwait and backed all measures taken by the two countries to safeguard their sovereignty, security and national interests.

The statement comes amid escalating regional tensions following a series of attacks and military exchanges involving Iran and several Gulf states.
