DOHA, Mar 5: Qatar Airways announced that it will continue to temporarily suspend its flights for as long as Qatari airspace remains closed, while beginning limited relief operations to assist passengers stranded due to the current regional situation, the Qatar News Agency reported on Wednesday.
In a statement carried by the agency, the airline said it plans to operate a limited number of flights from Muscat to London Heathrow, Berlin, Copenhagen, Madrid, Rome and Amsterdam, in addition to a flight from Riyadh to Frankfurt. The relief services are aimed at facilitating onward travel for affected passengers.
The carrier said it will fully resume normal operations once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority announces the safe reopening of Qatari airspace, subject to approval by the competent authorities. A further update is expected on Friday, March 6, at 9:00 a.m. Doha time.
Qatar Airways urged passengers not to proceed to airports unless they have received official notification from the airline regarding their flight arrangements. The company said it will contact affected travelers directly with details on schedules, travel procedures and requirements.
Passengers were also advised to ensure their contact information is up to date through the airline’s official website or mobile application to receive timely updates.
The airline affirmed that it continues to closely monitor developments, emphasizing that the safety of passengers and staff remains its highest priority. It also apologized for the inconvenience caused by circumstances beyond its control amid the temporary closure of Qatari airspace.
