DUBAI, Feb 16: Qadsia wrapped up its training at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium ahead of Wednesday’s crucial Group A match against the UAE’s Al-Ain in the final round of the Gulf Club Champions League.
Qadsia needs a win to advance to the semifinals, currently sitting third in the group with 7 points. Al-Ain, second with 9 points, requires only a draw to secure its spot, while the Iraqi side, Zakho, has already qualified as group leaders with 10 points.
Tunisian coach Nabil Maaloul intensified preparations at Qatara Stadium since Sunday, taking advantage of the Kuwait Football Association’s decision to postpone Qadsia’s previous match against Burgan in the Amir Cup preliminary round. The extra time allowed the team to train effectively and gradually increase intensity to reach peak readiness.
Maaloul confirmed that most key players are fit for the clash, including Khaled Sabah, who had missed previous matches due to injury.
The coach expressed satisfaction with the team’s recent performances, including wins over Al-Arabi and Kuwait Club to claim the Super Cup, a draw against league leader Kuwait Club, and last week’s victory over Zakho — results that have kept its semifinal hopes alive.
Maaloul emphasized the importance of correcting mistakes and staying focused in the decisive match, expressing full confidence in his players’ ability to secure victory and a spot in the Gulf Club Champions League semifinals.
