KUWAIT CITY, Nov 15: Qadsia dominated the basketball derby against Al-Arabi, claiming a resounding 116–43 victory at the Kuwait Basketball Association Arena in the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Sports Complex. The match concluded the fourth round of league action, which also saw Kuwait Club earn a convincing 123–94 win over Sulaibikhat.
The round began on Thursday with two lopsided games: Kazma cruised past Al-Sahel 108–38, while Al-Qurain defeated Al-Nasr 109–70.
Kuwait Club moved to the top of the standings with 8 points from four straight wins. Kazma, Qadsia, and Al-Qurain follow closely behind with 7 points each. Sulaibikhat sits on 6 points, while Al-Arabi and Al-Sahel remain at the bottom with 4 points, having yet to register a win.
The eight-team league is played over three round-robin phases, after which the top four advance to the Final Four playoffs. The semifinals will feature first vs fourth and second vs third in a best-of-three format, with the winners progressing to the final.
Despite the early stage of the competition, the title race is already taking shape. Kuwait Club, Kazma, and Qadsia have emerged as the leading contenders, while Al-Qurain and Sulaibikhat appear locked in a tight battle for the fourth playoff spot.
In contrast, Al-Nasr has yet to show the strong form it produced last season, and Al-Arabi and Al-Sahel continue to struggle, offering performances far below top-flight expectations.
