WASHINGTON, April 29: Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump held an extended phone call lasting more than 90 minutes, during which they discussed Iran’s nuclear program and regional developments, according to the Kremlin.

Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said Putin presented several ideas related to Iran’s nuclear activities and expressed support for efforts to extend the current Iran ceasefire. He described the conversation between the two leaders as “friendly and businesslike.”

Following the call, Trump said both Moscow and Washington share concerns over Iran’s nuclear ambitions. He stated that Putin “doesn’t want to see them have a nuclear weapon either,” adding that Iran’s military capabilities had been significantly weakened.

Trump also warned that Iran still retains some missile capacity, but said these remaining capabilities could be quickly targeted if necessary. He reiterated that the United States will not allow Iran to develop nuclear weapons.

According to Trump, Putin also indicated interest in playing a role in addressing Iran’s nuclear issue, including potential involvement in enrichment-related discussions. However, Trump added that he would prefer the Russian leader focus on efforts to end the ongoing war in Ukraine.

The call highlights continued high-level engagement between Washington and Moscow on major geopolitical issues, including Iran’s nuclear program and broader regional security concerns.
