MOSCOW (AP), Apr 12: Russian President Vladimir Putin and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian held a phone call on Sunday to discuss the latest developments in the Middle East following the collapse of recent U.S.-Iran talks, according to the Kremlin.

The Kremlin said Pezeshkian briefed Putin on negotiations held in Pakistan between Tehran and Washington, which ended without an agreement. He also expressed appreciation for Moscow’s stance, describing it as supportive of efforts aimed at de-escalation.

According to the statement, Putin reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to help facilitate a diplomatic settlement to ongoing tensions and to support efforts to establish what he described as a “just and lasting peace” in the Middle East.

The call comes amid heightened regional uncertainty following the breakdown of diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran, with concerns growing over potential further escalation.
