Provide best care to elderly people

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8: The Minister of Social Affairs and the Minister of Family and Childhood Affairs Sheikh Feras Al-Malik affirmed the ministry’s keenness to provide the best services of various types to elderly persons. In a press statement issued yesterday on the sidelines of the celebration organized by the Elderly Care Department in the ministry’s Social Welfare Sector under the slogan of “Their Satisfaction is Paradise” on the occasion of the International Day of the Elderly, Al-Malik said the ministry has recently developed and provided many services aimed at offering the best care for this group. He revealed that the ministry recently opened an integrated mobile unit to serve the elderly in Hawally Governorate. Al-Malik highlighted the implementation of a development action plan that includes many special services that facilitate the lives of the elderly.

In his speech during the ceremony, Al-Malik said the ministry pays great attention to the elderly through what was stipulated in Article 11 of the Constitution, adding that law No. 18/2016 regarding social care for the elderly was accordingly issued. He explained that this law provides all aspects of medical, social, psychological, and recreational care through the services provided by the Elderly Care Department in the Social Welfare Sector through mobile service centers in all governorates, which serve more than 3,500 elderly men and women. The Ministry of Social Affairs provides adequate housing, health, and social care for the elderly, who have no breadwinners, through residential care services. The number of elderly men and women who benefited from a priority card reached about 31,000.
