Protect Yourself from Online Fraud

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 17, (Agencies): The Kuwaiti Ministry of Commerce and Industry, on Thursday, warned against various dubious entities trying to pose as representatives of the ministry online and scamming consumers. A statement by the ministry said that acts of fraud against citizens and residents were on the rise due to scammers using fake ministry accounts on the web and social media platforms.

The ministry is monitoring the situation and will bring fraudsters to justice via legal means in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, indicated the statement, noting that there were efforts to block fake sites and accounts. It went on to stress that citizens and residents should not interact with fake accounts or respond to mysterious messages asking for One Time Password (OTP) or bank data. All of the ministry services could be found in the Sahel application, it concluded.
