KUWAIT CITY, Aug 25: The Public Prosecution has formally received a report on the so-called ‘State Security Service’ leaks and has begun investigations in the incident, reports Al-Anba daily. A reliable security source stated the Prosecution has received a memorandum from the Ministry of Interior, which includes names of officials working for the State Security and they are primarily charged with violating the penal laws, misusing telephone, means of communication and eavesdropping devices, and combating information technology crimes.

The source revealed the Prosecution has already begun hearing the statements of parties related to the incident in preparation for summoning the accused and interrogating them.

The social media recently published with dismay a ‘video-audio’ recordings in parts purportedly depicting one of the rooms in the State Security apparatus, in which people -- including officers -- appear, sometimes talking about hacking the accounts of some politicians and citizens on Twitter, and at other times about the Public Funds Misappropriation case which is currently being looked into. The Ministry of Interior has issued a statement confirming these leaks date back to 2018, adding that Minister Anas Al-Saleh has ordered the suspension of the Director of the State Security Apparatus and seven officers from work until interrogations into the case are completed.
