KUWAIT CITY, Sept 5: MP Abdulwahaab Al-Babtain submitted a proposal to allow public and private hospitals and clinics with obstetrics and gynaecology (OB-GYN) departments to issue birth certificates in a bid to ease the process of issuing birth certificates for newborns.

In his proposal, the MP explained that complaints regarding procedures for registering a newborn and issuing a birth certificate are on the rise.

Therefore, he proposed that every hospital and clinic with an OB-GYN department should establish an office which will issue birth certificates within its premises. He added the office will submit information about the newborns directly to the Citizenship and Passports Affairs General Department at the Interior Ministry and the Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI).
