Ministry confirms ‘readiness’ of examination committees
KUWAIT CITY, May 17: The Ministry of Education is reviewing its preparations for the implementation of all health requirements set by the Ministry of Health for 12th grade students to answer their final paper exams on the May 30, 2021.
The Ministry has begun the inventory and readiness of all examination committees and the Ministry of Health is in the process of final evaluation of the various committees distributed over in more than 300 schools to secure and review all preventive assessment points to prevent the spread of Coronavirus among students.
Senior educational sources told the Al-Seyassah daily that the ministry has confirmed the readiness of its examination committees to receive Twelfth Grade students in total abidance to the requirements put in place by the Ministry of Health, explaining that the final decision to go ahead with the tests will be announced by the Ministry of Health after its final evaluation, which will happen this week after reviewing the health requirements in schools and evaluating them, and then determining the possibility of continuing with paper tests or not.
The sources indicated if the Ministry of Health gives the ‘go ahead’ nod to conduct the exams, the Ministry is ready to organize the tests within the specified time frame, but if otherwise, the Ministry will adopt the evaluation mechanism approved as was the case with the first semester according to the terms of attendance, participation, assignments, weekly tests and solving the questions.
The Ministry of Education reiterated its confirmed and detailed plan to vaccinate teachers and school administrators before the opening of schools, pointing out that vaccination of the staff in schools is necessary to achieve a safe return to education in schools for the next academic year.
The sources stated the education sector, represented in the school districts, works in coordination with the concerned ministry sectors and other external bodies such as the preventive health and the Ministry of Interior (Civil Defense and Medical Emergencies Department), for the safe return, and an agreement has been signed in this regard with specialists from the Ministry of Health to give the employees of the Ministry of Education priority in receiving vaccination.
The sources indicated that the school districts administrations should follow the schools to count the numbers of teachers and others employees who have been vaccinated and urge more to take the vaccine. The school districts administrations also follow up those who have already received the vaccination among the specified groups, noting that there is a permanent coordination with the concerned authorities at the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Interior.
The sources confirmed the completion of the Ministry of Health’s provision of the preventive requirements for the Twelfth Grade paper tests for the current academic year 2020-2021, and coordination is underway between the public education sector and educational districts to prepare lists of all needs and supplies for the beginning of the new academic year 2021/2022.
The sources stated the Ministry of Health has been provided with the needs of the medical staff, and coordination has been made with the Civil Defense Department and the Kuwait Red Crescent Society to provide trained volunteers for the Twelfth Grade paper tests for the current academic year 2020/2021, and coordination is underway with the educational districts to limit the requirements for the start of the new academic year 2021/2022.
