KUWAIT CITY, Oct 14: Kuwait Municipality underscored on Tuesday the vital role of private sector engagement in supporting environmental sustainability and enhancing public awareness, particularly in the area of public cleanliness and beach preservation.

In a press statement marking the launch of the “Our Beaches Are Beautiful, Let's Preserve Them” initiative, Faisal Al-Otaibi, Director of the Cleaning and Road Works Department in the Capital Governorate, expressed appreciation for the contribution of private companies in national beach cleaning efforts and broader community initiatives.

Held under the patronage of Capital Governor Sheikh Abdullah Salem Al-Ali Al-Sabah, the awareness campaign is being implemented in cooperation with Kuwait Continental Hotels Group and its employees. The initiative aims to engage citizens and residents alike in maintaining the cleanliness of public beaches and coastal facilities.

Al-Otaibi noted that the project seeks to promote a culture of environmental responsibility and social participation. He praised the continued collaboration between the Kuwait Municipality, the private sector, community organizations, embassies, and environmental NGOs, emphasizing their collective role in preserving the marine environment and protecting aquatic life from pollution and waste.

He added that the Cleaning and Road Works Department in the Capital Governorate mobilized field teams and provided all necessary logistical support for the success of the initiative. Representatives from various governmental and civil bodies were present during the launch, demonstrating a united front in environmental stewardship.

The initiative forms part of Kuwait’s broader efforts to integrate private sector participation into public service delivery, contributing to sustainable development goals (SDGs) and community-driven environmental action.
