KUWAIT CITY, Aug 20: What began as a routine shopping trip for fruits and vegetables turned into a police case after a price dispute inside a Jahra vegetable market reportedly escalated into an assault.
According to a security source, Jahra security personnel referred two Asian expatriates to the Administrative Deportation Department following an altercation with a citizen at the market.
The incident began when the citizen contacted the Ministry of Interior’s operations room, reporting that he had been involved in a verbal argument with a vendor over what he described as high prices. The situation quickly escalated, with the citizen claiming that the vendor and another person assaulted him inside the market.
Security officers rushed to the scene and arrested the two expatriates involved in the incident. The complainant was instructed to report to the police station to provide his official statement.
During questioning, the two expatriates claimed that the citizen had assaulted them first. However, investigations later found their account to be false, prompting authorities to take legal measures against them.
The two men were subsequently referred to the Administrative Deportation Department, in line with Ministry of Interior procedures against expatriates involved in fights, public disturbances, or violations that warrant deportation.
Security authorities stressed that such measures are part of ongoing efforts to maintain order in public markets and prevent disputes from turning into violence.
