KUWAIT CITY, April 18: First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah asserted that “we will not allow anyone to tamper with our national unity or harm all components of our social fabric,” reports Al-Seyassah daily.
In a recent interview, Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef made the statement based on the noble principles emphasized by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah who said that “our national unity is the first line of defense, and our cohesion is the true guarantee in these times to face challenges and overcome crises.”
He thanked Allah that the country did not witness Iranian attacks in recent days, confirming that “the atmosphere is safe and we are monitoring the security situation round the clock.
State agencies remain at a high level of vigilance and readiness.” He praised the honorable performance of the valiant men of the Kuwait Armed Forces, Ministry of Interior, Kuwait National Guard and Kuwait Fire Force in dealing with the heinous Iranian attacks and their affiliated factions.
He stressed that everyone exhibited high defensive efficiency in countering Iranian missiles and drones, protecting the Kuwaiti territory from these terrorist attacks, and controlling all the damage inflicted on our country as a result of such attacks. He emphasized that the internal security situation is at its best under the leadership and guidance of His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Sabah. He added that His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah is following up the situation daily, in compliance with the directives of the political leadership to ensure the security and safety of the country and all who live on the land of Kuwait, to provide all the needs of society, and to continue working round the clock to ensure complete readiness and immediate response to any new developments.
He went on to say that “we will not tolerate any practices which undermine social cohesion and threaten the security and stability of the nation. Anyone who transgresses these principles will face firm and deterrent legal measures without exception or leniency, as per the belief that preserving national unity is a non-negotiable responsibility and maintaining the stability of the nation is a duty that transcends all other considerations.”
According to Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, “the recent dismantling of terrorist cells has tarnished the image of Kuwait and revealed the involvement of several citizens with ideological and organizational affiliations linked to foreign parties and groups.” He asserted that “we are a country whose Constitution stipulates the absence of political parties. How can affiliation with foreign organizations with agendas threatening national security and stability be accepted? Experiences around us have proven that partisanship brings no good, as it rather leads to division and unrest, which we will not allow in Kuwait.” He then confirmed that “the security authorities firmly deal with any ideology or organization threatening the security of the country. We thank Allah for the successes achieved by our security forces in thwarting terrorist attempts and protecting the homeland. The security of Kuwait is a trust we will not compromise under any circumstances.”
He said “Kuwait was founded on a firm national unity that leaves no room for sectarianism, factionalism or any divisions. We do not have political parties, as stipulated in the Constitution. Rather, we are united by the principle of equal citizenship and the law is applied equally to all, without exception.” He pointed out that “since its inception, Kuwait has been built on coexistence and solidarity among its citizens of all sects, forming a single national fabric that constitutes the foundation of its security and stability. Our duty today is to adhere to the wise directives to protect society from rumors and prevent the exploitation of circumstances to incite discord and undermine trust.”
He stressed that “the new Citizenship Law is an absolute necessity to preserve and protect national identity. We will implement it firmly and transparently to maintain the demographic balance and guarantee rights within the legal framework.” He indicated that manipulation and forgery in citizenship files have affected the political life and discourse in the country.
“At one point, we lost the language of dialogue and mutual respect in political discourse. We are living in a political phase based on political blackmail and the exchange of personal and factional interests, far removed from the interest of the nation and its citizens,” he elaborated. While confirming that the use of modern technology has revealed many cases of fraud and forgery, he cited several cases, such as the inclusion of names in citizenship files that do not exist in reality. “They are just blank spaces waiting to be filled.
This reflects the extent of the forgery,” he disclosed. He also mentioned cases of individuals from the same family, including two brothers with different nationalities – one Kuwaiti and the other of another Arab nationality – living in the same house in the country.
Regarding the issue of the children of Kuwaiti women married to non- Kuwaitis, he emphasized that it is unreasonable that “a person who, after 22 years, obtained Kuwaiti citizenship and enjoys all its privileges, simply because he obtained naturalization through connections. Will the Kuwaiti people accept having a member of the National Assembly who forged his citizenship, criticizes the government and the people, and works to negatively influence public opinion, and another member who covers up citizenship forgery cases within his family, disregarding his oath?” He pointed out that among the revelations in the citizenship file are a judge who forged his citizenship and issued rulings in the name of His Highness the Amir, and a deceased person whose death was not documented in order to add new births to his citizenship file. He reiterated that Kuwait is a state of law and firmly established institutions based on justice and the rule of law, and that His Highness the Amir is keen on applying the law in a way that ensures no one is wronged on Kuwaiti soil.
He said the country does not accept injustice and does not allow the infringement of individual rights under a leadership that believes justice is the foundation of stability and one of the most important pillars of national security. Furthermore, he stated that human trafficking crimes are considered a blatant violation of human and legal values, harming the image of the State of Kuwait abroad. He asserted that the country is resolutely committed to combating such crimes, drying up their sources, and prosecuting those involved within the legal framework. He also underscored the need to intensify deterrent measures to ensure the protection of society and uphold the rule of law.
