KUWAIT CITY, March 13: Assistant Undersecretary for Administrative Affairs at the Ministry of Education Rajaa Bouarki has instructed all sectors to prepare lists of expatriate teachers and administrators covered by the replacement policy for the current academic year — 2020/2021 — based on the data extracted from the integrated systems, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting a reliable source.

The source revealed that the Administrative Sector has determined the number of expatriate employees subject to the replacement policy, clarifying the concerned departments will decide who among these employees will be terminated. The source quoted Bouarki as saying that Assistant Undersecretary for Public Education Usama Al-Sultan confirmed the termination of 148 non-Kuwaiti employees in June. He said many educational entities are facing manpower shortage in the job groups covered by the replacement policy, especially the public education and educational development bodies.

He urged the concerned authorities to postpone the replacement in sectors suffering from manpower shortage; particularly the technical jobs like Science lecturers, researchers, accountants and legal professionals. He pointed out the replacement policy should first be applied for some specializations as Kuwaiti graduates are available to fill up the posts that will be vacated by expatriates.
