WASHINGTON, April 2: Donald Trump said Thursday that the United States is continuing precise military strikes against Iran under “Operation Epic Wrath,” launched in coordination with Israel in late February.
In a national address, Trump claimed US forces have secured “rapid and decisive victories” in recent weeks, significantly degrading Iran’s missile and drone capabilities. He added that weapons factories and launch sites have been largely destroyed, with only a limited number still operational.
“Our objectives are simple and clear,” Trump said. “We are systematically dismantling the regime’s ability to threaten America or project power beyond its borders.”
The US president stressed that regional countries were not involved in the conflict, accusing Iran of initiating attacks against them and vowing that Washington would prevent further harm.
Trump warned that military operations would intensify if diplomatic efforts fail. “If no agreement is reached, we will continue until all objectives are achieved,” he said, adding that the US could escalate strikes on critical infrastructure, including power facilities, within weeks.
He also addressed global energy concerns, stating that the United States does not rely on oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz and urged countries dependent on the route to take primary responsibility for securing it, with US support.
On domestic issues, Trump attributed rising gasoline prices to Iranian attacks on oil tankers, describing the increase as temporary. He also defended the US economy, highlighting strong investment inflows and stock market performance.
The remarks come amid growing public concern in the United States over the economic impact of the conflict, particularly rising energy costs, while global markets continue to face volatility linked to the ongoing war.
