Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of the Coptic Orthodox Church
KUWAIT CITY, Oct 6: In a recent telephone conversation, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark His Holiness Pope Tawadros II stated that the anniversary of the October War victory is a significant national event that brings all Egyptians together around the noble principles of loving their country and protecting its territory and dignity.
His Holiness said “this occasion allows us to proudly remember the bravery and sacrifices made by the members of the Egyptian Armed Forces, as well as the resilience and determination exhibited by the Egyptian people until victory was achieved. For Egyptians, October transcends being just a month in the calendar, as it represents a vibrant national memory that has been passed down through generations. It tells the story of a people who believed in their homeland, an army that fulfilled its responsibilities, and an Arab nation that stood in solidarity with Egypt during a crucial moment in history.”
He disclosed that “one of the most commendable Arab positions is that of the sisterly State of Kuwait, which steadfastly supported Egypt during the October War, with its citizens fighting beside their Egyptian counterparts on the battlefield. Therefore, any conversation about October in Egypt recalls such honorable Kuwaiti support.” “On this momentous anniversary, we honor the heroes of the Egyptian Armed Forces and pay respect to the martyrs. We also make a heartfelt salute to our brothers in Kuwait—their leadership and their people—in gratitude for their contributions to Egypt during the October War,” he concluded.
