TEHRAN, Jul 9 : Political prisoners at Sheiban Prison in Iran's southwestern city of Ahvaz are facing deteriorating health conditions amid repeated water shortages, contaminated water supplies and sewage overflows, according to sources cited by Iran International.

The sources said the poor sanitation has contributed to the spread of eye and kidney diseases among inmates, while severe overcrowding has left prisoners with limited access to basic hygiene facilities. In one ward, inmates reportedly share a single shower and toilet, forcing them to wait for extended periods.

The report also alleged that political prisoners are being housed alongside detainees accused of offenses including membership in ISIS, raising additional security and safety concerns.

Among those affected is political prisoner Hojat Al-Mohammad, who is reportedly suffering from kidney disease and severe dental problems but has been denied adequate medical treatment, according to the sources.

The allegations could not be independently verified, and Iranian authorities had not publicly responded to the claims at the time of reporting.
