TURKEY, Feb 4: In a devastating incident, a police helicopter crashed in southern Turkey on Saturday night, resulting in the tragic loss of two police officers and leaving another injured, according to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya’s announcement on the social media platform X.

The ill-fated helicopter had taken off from Hatay airport and was en route to Gaziantep airport when it lost contact at 10:29 p.m. (1949 GMT), as reported by Minister Yerlikaya. The crash occurred near Kartal village in Gaziantep’s Nurdagi district. However, the minister refrained from providing details on the cause of the tragic incident.

Health Minister Fahrettin Koca conveyed in a statement that the injured personnel, identified as a technician, is currently receiving medical treatment in the hospital. As investigations into the crash are likely to unfold, the authorities are expected to shed light on the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.
