KUWAIT CITY, Aug 17: The Salmi border port administration has arrested 3 employees who were facilitating the escape of people wanted by law and expatriates who had travel ban slapped on them, reports Al-Anba daily. According to the security source, initial investigations have revealed that the suspects have so far allowed expatriates of 3 nationalities to exit through the port.

The source said the arrest came after the Salmi port administration received information on the activities of the suspects and after checking and monitoring and taking approval from the Assistant Undersecretary for Ports Security Affairs Major-General Mansour Al-Awadhi and the General Director of Land Ports Brigadier General Iyad Al-Haddad, one of the employees was caught stamping the passport of one of the wanted men when he was inside a bus.

The source added the Arab expatriate and the expatriate bus driver were arrested. The bus driver admitted that the company in which he works deals with the one of the suspects, and that the employee and others turn a blind eye when the wanted persons leave the country in return for money. He pointed out the company he works for is the one that coordinates with the suspects and he hands over money to employees. The suspects have been referred to the Public Prosecution. Investigations are continuing to break up the network.
