KUWAIT CITY, Jan 17: The Ministry of Interior, through the Hawally Investigations Department, has closed a theft case involving construction equipment worth KD 2,300 following the arrest of the suspect, who was found living in Kuwait on an expired visa for more than a year.
According to security sources, the case began after a Kuwaiti citizen reported the theft of construction materials—including iron, electrical wiring, and a generator—from a site located on Al-Mahdi Street in the Hawally area. The incident was reported to have occurred on December 24, 2025. At the time of filing the complaint, the victim did not name any suspect.
Investigators immediately launched inquiries, collecting evidence and reviewing surveillance camera footage from the surrounding area. These efforts led to the identification of the perpetrator.
During questioning, the suspect initially claimed that another individual was responsible for the theft. The named individual later presented himself voluntarily to authorities and confessed to committing the crime, citing unresolved financial disputes with the complainant as the motive.
When confronted, the complainant acknowledged the existence of financial disagreements between the parties but maintained his accusation against the original suspect. Further investigations and a detailed review of surveillance footage ultimately confirmed that the individual identified as A.S.M. was responsible for the theft.
Checks conducted through the Ministry of Interior’s automated system revealed that the accused has been residing in Kuwait illegally since August 23, 2024. Legal action has been initiated, and the suspect has been referred to the competent authorities for further proceedings.
