KUWAIT CITY, Dec 24: Director of Cleaning and Road Works Department at the Kuwait Municipality branch in Jahra, Fahad Al-Quraifa has confirmed that the Municipality teams continue to provide logistical support to volunteer teams by supplying the required machines, equipment, cleaning workers and environment-friendly bags to remove waste materials dumped on the beaches, reports Al-Rai daily. Speaking to the daily, Al- Quraifa said the Municipality teams are keen on helping the volunteers in their clean-up drives, especially in places frequented by the public.
He pointed out that citizens and expatriates have started going out and they now frequent the beaches, so his department intensified its efforts to conduct cleanliness campaigns in coordination with the companies that signed contracts with the Municipality. He cited as an example the clean-up drive within the vicinity of Subiya, particularly the removal of waste dumped into the beach in coordination with the volunteer teams.
He then appealed to all those visiting the beaches to remain committed to the protection of the marine environment, while stressing the need to maintain cleanliness in these places. He praised the role played by the volunteer teams as they have been working hard to clean places frequented by the public, reiterating that the Municipality branch in Jahra is always willing to provide support if the need arises.
