KUWAIT CITY, April 3: MP Osama Al-Shaheen submitted a proposal for the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition (PAFN) to present a plan for collecting excess food from restaurants, hotels and event halls to be distributed to those in need.

His idea is based on the fact that a large number of laborers are struggling to feed themselves and their families, while 42 percent of the world’s food production goes to waste.

He added this falls under the jurisdiction of the PAFN, citing Article Five of the law on its establishment which stipulates that the authority is in charge of implementing guidelines and regulations on handling, storing, transporting and distributing food.
