According to the data, Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) is focusing on the petrochemicals sector, in which petroleum products are converted into chemicals, because these products are used in multiple industries like plastics, fertilizers and other industrial materials, thus, adding economic value to hydrocarbon resources. The sector greatly contributes to the expansion of the base of petroleum industries, attracting investments, transferring technology, and enhancing the global competitiveness of Kuwaiti industries in such a field. PIC continues to seize promising investment opportunities and strengthen its strategic partnerships through the acquisition of existing enterprises or the establishment of new enterprises in and outside Kuwait.
The company acquired a 25 percent stake in a petrochemical venture that belongs to Wanhua Chemical in China. This move is considered a breakthrough into one of the fastest-growing and most influential markets in global supply chains. The alliance with global partner Wanhua Chemical gives the company access to advanced manufacturing technologies and wide customer base in the heart of Asia. This acquisition enables the company to enhance its ability to balance its investment portfolio between domestic production and international expansion, hence, reducing operational risks and increasing cash flow flexibility. The company also obtained board approval to commence due diligence studies for the acquisition of another petrochemical plant complex in China, proving the commitment of the company to expand its international asset base in line with a clear vision. These moves are an integral part of the 2040 Vision of KPC, which aims to intensify its presence in the petrochemical sector.
Moreover, in line with its commitment to comply with health, safety, security and environmental standards, the company completed around 15.36 million work hours without lost-time incidents as at the end of March 2026. The company has been maintaining its zero-environmental incident record since 2012.
