Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr and Japan Prime Minister Kishida Fumio.

MANILA, Philippines, Nov 2, (Agencies): During Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio's visit to Manila, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr is expected to engage in discussions that encompass West Philippine Sea matters and Japan's Official Development Assistance (ODA), according to a statement from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

Kishida's visit to the Philippines, from Nov 3 to 4, will feature a pivotal bilateral meeting with Marcos upon his arrival in the country. The talks will revolve around the multifaceted cooperation between the two nations, covering political and security cooperation, economic collaboration, and people-to-people relations.

The agenda includes specific issues such as the West Philippine Sea, trade, investment, and Japan's Official Development Assistance (ODA). Furthermore, the leaders will exchange views on significant regional, international, and United Nations matters affecting both the region and the global landscape.

The Prime Minister will be received by Marcos in a welcoming ceremony at the Malacañang Palace.

Notably, before Kishida's visit to the Philippines, Marcos conducted an official visit to Japan in February 2023, resulting in the establishment of agreements valued at $13 billion. These agreements were expected to create numerous employment opportunities for Filipinos.
