WASHINGTON, Aug 9 : US Deputy Defense Secretary Steve Feinberg has given leaders of the American defense industry no more than 21 days to submit plans for significantly accelerating weapons production and delivery, The Washington Post reported.
According to a Wednesday memorandum obtained by the newspaper, defense companies were instructed to develop plans for “significantly faster, more aggressive delivery schedules and/or increased production” of critical military capabilities.
The move comes as the Pentagon seeks to strengthen weapons production capacity and speed up deliveries of key military systems amid growing demands on the US defense industry.
