KUWAIT CITY, Jan 30: The Court of Appeals obligated the Ministry of Education to pay a Kuwaiti teacher his full salary for the period from March 19, 2020 to August 31, 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, after the end of the secondment period, affirming that the plaintiff has the right to receive KD 6,785.

According to the lawsuit filed by Lawyer Elaf Al-Saleh, her client, who works as a teacher at the Ministry of Education, was assigned to work as a secretary in the General Secretariat of the National Assembly, with the continuation of the payment of KD 120 as cost of living, and KD 50 as financial support of KD 50. However, the decision stopped the payment of the monthly increment of KD 50, a PhD allowance of KD 400, a job level bonus of KD 350, an incentive bonus of KD 250, and a teaching allowance of KD 125, in addition to representation allowance of KD 58.5.

Lawyer Al-Saleh said, “It is proven that several circulars were issued by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) for the suspension of work in all ministries, government agencies, public bodies and institutions due to the spread of COVID-19 virus, the extension of the suspension (as days of rest) and the end of the suspension on June 30, 2020.
