KUWAIT CITY, May 9: Several travelers have expressed dissatisfaction over the cancellation of some Kuwait Airways bookings during May and June, saying the disruptions have resulted in additional financial burdens due to costly rebooking, particularly amid a noticeable rise in airfares compared to pre-pandemic levels in the region.

Passengers said the impact extended beyond ticket costs, with several reporting losses related to non-refundable hotel bookings and difficulties in modifying accommodation arrangements. Others noted additional expenses incurred while rearranging travel schedules, appointments, and onward connections, reports Al Qabas.

Passengers also pointed out that limited seat availability during peak travel demand has further complicated rebooking options, often forcing them to accept higher fares or longer transit routes. Some called for clearer communication from the airline and more flexible refund or compensation mechanisms during periods of operational disruption.

Despite flight cancellations during the temporary closure of Kuwaiti airspace, many passengers who opted for full refunds say they have still not received their money even after more than a month, despite repeated attempts to contact Kuwait Airways. They also report difficulties reaching customer service, stating that calls to the 171 helpline often go unanswered even after long waiting times.

Meanwhile, industry observers note that regional travel volatility and sudden demand fluctuations often lead to schedule adjustments by carriers, which can ripple across hotel and transport bookings if changes occur at short notice.
