Passenger Arriving From Addis Ababa, Ethiopia Arrested at Kuwait Airport With 8.5kg of Hashish

KUWAIT CITY, July 19: Kuwait Customs officers at Kuwait International Airport Terminal 4 (T4) have foiled an attempt to smuggle more than 8.5 kilograms of hashish concealed inside luggage belonging to a passenger arriving from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The General Administration of Customs said the seizure was carried out as part of intensified efforts to strengthen customs control and combat attempts to bring prohibited substances into the country.

Customs inspectors stopped a Beninese national arriving on the Addis Ababa flight and subjected his luggage to detailed inspection procedures. During the search, officers discovered two suitcases containing a total of 8.547 kilograms of hashish.

According to Customs, the drugs were carefully hidden inside the inner lining of the suitcases and wrapped in tin foil in an apparent attempt to evade detection.

The first suitcase contained 3.732 kilograms of hashish, while the second contained 4.815 kilograms.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of the Deputy Director General of Customs for Ports, Search and Customs Investigation Affairs, who followed the field procedures and directed the completion of the necessary legal steps.

Customs officials immediately prepared a seizure report and referred the suspect along with the confiscated drugs to the General Directorate for Drug and Alcohol Control for further legal action.

The General Administration of Customs reaffirmed its commitment to tightening inspection procedures at all entry points and using advanced methods and human resources to prevent the smuggling of illegal substances and protect national security.
